Cultural values are several different things which significantly influence and co-create the identity of particular areas and demonstrate the creativity and adaptation of a human kind to natural conditions. It can be priceless old knowledge related to plant production, hunting, forestry, food preparation ... to forgotten but important old buildings, technical knowledge, craft products, etc… A bunch of cultural values with development potential discovered in the SY_CULTour pilot areas are presented bellow.

The castle of Gagliano Aterno shows a pentagonal base and is one of the best preserved castle in the Region Abruzzo. It has a noble appearance, with a beautiful open gallery and two rows of windows which overlook the village of Gagliano Aterno. It is surrounded by a moat, and the access is through a drawbridge.

Goriano Sicoli Manor-house
The manor house of Goriano Sicoli used to be a castle in the XI century, while in 1593 it was transformed into a local parish Church. It was once very important for the whole Region as it represented a massive defensive structure, protected by a bulwark and surrounded by a double circle of walls with loopholes.

Church of Saint Nicholas
The Church of Saint Nicola from Molina Aterno has valuable baroque and renaissence altars inside; one is particularly interesting as it was made from the ruins of an ancient marble balustrade of XVII century. Because of the earthquake which stroke Abruzzo, the Church today is still unaccessible.
